Fishing Day

The local nursery across the highway from us was having a free kids fishing day.  We figured this would be a perfect opportunity to take the kids fishing where they would actually catch something.

They also had free hot dogs and soda, so the kids loved that and Ryker even won some bubbles in the kids raffle!  We took the fish home and threw them on the grill.  They were excellent!!

Smiles and Frowns

I still love her though!  For the most part she is a pretty happy baby.  This last week she has had her moments... a lot of moments... but I'm not going crazy yet, so it's all good.  It hasn't helped that my body has felt super sore the last couple days.  I wish I could say it was soreness from working out or something, but instead it was from being hit by a piece of plywood, and then tripped by a second piece of plywood and then falling to my bum on the concrete driveway.  

You see, the wind here in South Eastern Idaho is ridiculous.  I tried to get a good picture of how windy it actually was, but this picture does not do it justice.  The trees were like half way bent over from the wind at times. 

This is what happened:  The kids and I were outside because it was a breezy day and the field next to us is full of those giant dandelions, so there were seeds flying everywhere and it looked like snow.  Then all of a sudden tornado like winds approached us and our trampoline started to fly... even with a cinder block on it!

Brodie screeched and I ran over to hold it down and try to secure it with the cinder block a little better.  Then, simultaneously, every garbage can on the block fell over and started to blow away.  I started to take a couple of steps across the driveway to retrieve the garbage can to find myself getting smacked by one of these 10' by 5' plywood boards that were laying in the driveway.  It hit my left arm so hard that the wood broke.  Thank goodness it wasn't the other way around, resulting in a broken arm.  Since the top piece of plywood was no longer holding down the bottom piece of plywood, the second board popped up and flew at my legs, tripping me and causing me to land flat on my bum on the hard concrete.  Brodie and Ryker were freaking out and started to run to my rescue, but I yelled at them to get in the house immediately.  I ran to the car, opened the garage, and drug the boards into it, then grabbed our garbage can and put it away, and then took refuge inside as well.

The next day I felt like I had been hit by a giant board.  Oh wait, I was!  Two of them!  My body is still sore today, but at least I don't feel like I have to physically pick my legs up to step on the gas or brake pedals in my car anymore.  Frown.

Father's Day Pancake Breakfast at the Airport

Our local airport had a free pancake breakfast for Father's Day today!  They also did fly byes and opened the museum to the public for free.  Since the boys are really into airplanes (and pancakes), this was a perfect activity for our family.

Loving Life!

The days have just been passing us by here in our new home, which we all love.  The boys are pretty much outside non-stop.  They've even managed to get a nice Croc Clog tan on their feet.

When I can manage to talk them into coming inside they've been really into building airplanes with their blocks.  Ryker is happy making little airplanes without wings... I think they are actually supposed to be rocket ships... and Brodie puts as many wings as he can on his.

Brodie started summer pre-school.  It's with his old teacher from last year at the gymnastics center.  It's Wednesdays only from 9-12.  A perfect summer schedule if you ask me and he loves it. On Thursday he asked me if he was going to go to preschool again and when I said no, he was pretty bummed.  He got to bring home this dinosaur book though and he was really excited to read it with his dad.  In our new house each bedroom has a loft.  The lofts are off limits to the kids, because I'm just too afraid someone will fall to their death, but we decided to turn the one in the boy's bedroom into the reading den, so the boys climb up the ladder now to the reading den to read their books.  I'm hoping I can find some cheap bean bags or something to stick up there.

I know I say this every time, but Mari is just growing too fast.  Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the older stages too, I just wish these baby stages would slow down... like a lot!

Brodie requested I take this picture of them today.  He's still obsessed with her and she loves him too.

I've been trying to put her in an exersaucer for the last few days, but she is so tiny and wiggly she would just fall over and bonk her head.  Bo solved that problem today with a neck pillow and she couldn't have been happier!

She also loves being naked.  She can really stretch her legs and she thinks it's fun to pee too.

Let's see what else.  Bo and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary.  Instead of buying each other presents we decided to go to Outback Steakhouse and feast on crab legs and lobster tails.  The boys and I put in our garden the other day.  I can't wait for things to start growing!  Today my mom retired!!!  Super excited about that.  Now she can be at my beck and call any time I want!  Muah-ha-ha!  

Oh and I bought this awesome picture of the Grand Tetons today off of Rexburg Garage Sale (a facebook page where people sell and buy items they want to get rid of at garage sale prices locally).  We have a picture of Mt. Lassen that we acquired when we lived in Burney and I thought it would be fun to have a picture of the Tetons and then we could have pictures of the mountain ranges where we have lived.  So I set up a time to go and pick up the painting and I show up at the house and the painting is HUGE!!  I probably should have taken note of how big it was before I agreed to buy it.  It barely fit in my car.  And I am so glad that we have big walls that need covering in our new house, because I already hung it up and I love it!  I also looked up the painting on google and it is actually a picture of the Alps or something, not the Grand Tetons... but we are going to pretend like we don't know that.
