My mom flew in to stay with us for a week in June and it was so awesome! I love it when my mom comes to visit! My house stays clean for a week and it is so nice to have a helping hand with the kids. And the kids absolutely adore her! Plus, she treats us to fun things like lunch at the taco truck. It's the little things! We had a pretty busy week while she was here. We went to gymnastics, visited the thrift store, we took our weekly trip to the book wagon, had horseback riding lessons, went to Egin Lake, hit up some garage sales, took a trip to bear world, and had lots of other things planned too, but opted to just stay home and visit!
Egin Lake is a very shallow lake out at the sand dunes. The deepest part of the lake barely goes above my knee. The kids love it because there's lots of creatures to explore and I love it because I don't need to worry about them going under.
We had some new neighbors move in next door and they just so happen to be from CA. The mom is from Colusa and the dad is from Roseville, so very close to where Bo and I grew up. They came with us to Egin Lake and all the kids had a great time playing with each other.
Ryker with a snail. He really wanted to bring it home, but I explained to him it would die, so he left it. At one point Brodie brought me a creature to identify that he found over near the island in the water that surrounded some bushes. I forget what he thought it was, but I'm pretty sure it was a leech!! EW! I've only seen a leech one other time in my life, but those things are so creepy! I told him to take it ashore and beat it to death with a shovel. Take that you blood sucking worm! All the kids fell asleep on the way home, so you know they had fun.
The next day we went to Bear World. For some reason I thought my mom had been there before, but she hadn't. We've gone every year since we've lived here and the kids really love it. Back when I was 16 and on a road trip with my Aunt and Uncle, I remember driving through Bear World too, so it's kind of fun.
You drive around the loop and you see the bears close up... like touching your car close up.
The kids always enjoy feeding the fish and the little petting zoo.
And of course the rides!
That's my mom on a roller coaster with the kids. They have a cool Nana. She even jumped on the trampoline with them. What grandma's do you know who do that!?
It was time to go and the kids all begged to drive through the loop again. I'm glad we did because we saw the two wolves that they have in the park and we didn't see them the first time around.
