Cuties with Colds

Our Father's Day sort of stunk.  The boys were sick, so they weren't having any fun, which made it so mommy didn't have much fun.  I think Daddy still had fun though because he got to spend some quality time with his extended family.  And he deserved it, he's a pretty good daddy.

The boys got their Dad this shirt:

Oh, I hope, hope, hope, one day there will be a tally mark under the "Girls"!

Daddy has himself some very cute boys though...

They're starting to interact with each other more, which I just love!

Brodie got to hold the snake at Nana's house - YUCK!  But he loved it.

And we visited the splash park for a cool down

So we did manage to have a little bit of fun, but for the most part it was just a bunch of crying.  I don't think Nana wants us to ever come back and visit.

8 Month Old Boy!

Ryker turned 8 months old today - can you believe it!?

I sure was blessed with another beautiful boy.  I just think he is so cute!  He has the brightest blue eyes - something I never thought my kids would have since both Bo and I have brown, but they are gorgeous!  Today at church a woman came up to us and said to Ryker, "You're too pretty to be a boy."  And then she asked me, "He is a boy right?"  I'm not sure if that's a good compliment or not, but he is very handsome.

Have I mentioned that he's crawling now?  He graduated from the worm/army-crawl to actually crawling.  He loves being able to get where he wants to go.  I don't love it so much, but I'm happy for him.

Ryker really loves the dogs.  Whenever he sees them he just breaks out into a smile.

Jed appreciates a baby that's a little more gentler with him.  I'm sure it won't last though.
Just a few more months and I'll have a one year old!

Chuckar!

Bo belongs to a bird dog group and they met together this weekend.  The group is made up of people who enjoy watching bird dogs do what they do best: hunt for birds.  Our dog Autumn didn't compete this time around because she recently had puppies, but she did get to hunt at the end of the competition for the loose birds and it was the first time that Brodie got to witness her in action.  He thought it was the greatest thing ever.  That kid loves every aspect about hunting: hiking, the dogs, the birds, the guns.

While we were walking, he threw a stick and it got stuck in the lower branches of this tree.  He thought it was so funny.

Ryker was there too, but I didn't get too many pictures of him because he was in the backpack the whole time.  Here are my two little cuties though!

Autumn ended up finding two birds.  Brodie was close by and got to see Autumn find the second bird. She retrieved it and brought it to him and it made him feel so special. That really made is day.

Here he is being really excited and telling me what happened (over and over again)

Showing off his trophies

Then Bo and Brodie butchered the chuckars and breaded it in cornflakes and fried them in coconut oil.  It was so good!  And that is the first time I said that something Bo brought home from the field  actually tasted good.

Monkey See, Monkey Do.

Brodie has a very good "Monkey See, Monkey Do" way about life... particularly when it comes to mimicking animals.  Yesterday it was all about being a chicken.

I threw a few stale rice cakes out for the chickens to peck at... figuring no one in our household would want to eat yucky stale rice cakes...

But apparently I was wrong...

Here is another great example of Brodie's "Monkey See, Monkey Do" Complex...
I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but a few months ago our little dog Buddy was unfortunately run over by the UPS guy and is no longer with us.  Buddy was infamously known for digging. Now that Buddy is gone whenever a gopher mound pops up (which is quite often) no one is around to dig it up... unless Brodie spots it.

Buddy would also bite at the dirt because he was trying to catch the gophers...
And that's when Brodie takes it too far.

In other news, we were able to wear short sleeves today!  I know that sounds weird with it being June 8th, but that's how it went this year!

It's so nice to hang outside comfortably!
And here is Brodie with his new favorite gun.  Bo showed him how to pull the thingy back that makes the clicking noise when you pull the trigger (clearly I'm not too familiar with my weaponry) and Brodie will just sit in this chair on the porch for literally hours at a time "shooting" the birds and chipmunks that scamper onto the porch for pieces of dog food that have been left behind.

Puddle Jumper

Brodie has always been the kid who wants to be outside no matter what.  As soon as he wakes up he pulls his boots on over his footy pajamas and heads outside.... even when its raining or snowing.  Now it is June, so you wouldn't think there would be puddles everywhere, but there is.  Is it going to stay cold forever?  Anyways, on our way to the mailbox I asked Brodie not to go in the puddles.  I guess he isn't a good listener, because instead he hit every puddle on the way there and back.

Check out that air!

I think he has the cutest little jump.  He figured out how to do it a few weeks ago and now I catch him jumping all the time.  So cute!
