As the weeks go by...

So it hasn't been a very exciting for the last few weeks for the both of us, what with me constantly feeling nauseas and staying in bed all day, but here are some of the highlights:

A few Fridays ago, Bo decided that he HAD to go to the batting cages because he hasn't hit a baseball in years. So I looked them up at Funland/CalSkate and decided it wasn't too expensive and then we could play a round of mini golf once he was done.

Bo was pretty excited when we got there and we filled his pockets with batting cage tokens and headed out to watch him knock them away...

Unfortunately, that's not exactly what happened... Bo wanted to show off for his wife, only he missed just about every single one of them. Must of been the pressure. :)

So after that we went and played a round of mini golf and it was so much fun! It was a really long course too (18 holes) so it made the fun last.

I even got a hole in one!

The only thing, is technically it wasn't a hole in one, because my first hit rickashayeed off a rock and went out of bounds so I had to re-do... but my re-do was a hole in one!

Needless to say, I beat Bo. Not by much though and he had a really rough hole. At the end of the game, you put your golf ball into this machine and it tells you if you've won something or not. I didn't win anything, but when Bo put his ball in it started making all this noise and he got to pick a card that had a prize on it. He got a free round of batting cages... haha. The man behind the counter was nice enough to give us 2 tokens so I used one and Bo used one.

I did pretty good hitting the balls coming at me... but I went into the softball cage and it was on "SLOW." Bo went back to the fast baseball cage and decided to try his luck going left handed. He did WAY better and hit almost every single ball! I was impressed. He decided he thinks that his right eye is so blurry now that he just couldn't keep his eye on the ball. I'm going to buy him some contacts and take him back and see if that was really the reason. :)

Below is my goofy "I hit softballs" picture... too bad it looks like I have a hump... and Bo's left hitting stance:

Anyways, we had a lot of fun and heard that there was another glow in the dark putting golf course called the Putt Putt Hut that we would try the following Friday. However when that Friday rolled around I became super nauseated and had been throwing up all day. So instead of going on a date with my husband, he spent his night scratching my back as I heaved into the trashcan next to our bed. I couldn't even make it to the bathroom! In all of the upchucking enjoyment I even managed to puke on Bo's foot!! I don't know why, but it made me feel SO horrible that I had done that to him that I just started bawling... must be those hormones. So as a sorry I decided to make Bo dinner a few days later when I actually started feeling a little bit better.
(Just so everyone knows, I haven't made dinner in about 3 months, so this was a big deal)

I made one of our favorite easy meals: Quick & Easy Pork Chop Skillet. Basically it is a twist on the classic pork chop with applesauce and it turned out tasty as ever!

The recipe if anyone is interested is as follows:

Brown 4 chops (we use the same recipe, but only use 2 chops) in 1 tsp. oil in a large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat 3 min. on each side. Remove from skillet; set aside.

Add 2 TBSP. of Kraft Light Balsamic Vinaigrette Reduced Fat Dressing (I usually use this, but we didn't have any left so I used a Cesar Italian dressing and it was just as good - so use whatever dressing you like), 1 small sliced onion, 1 clove minced garlic, and 1 tsp. dried rosemary to skillet. Cook 3 minutes.

Return chops to skillet. Add 1 can (15-1/4 oz.) pear halves with juice and 2 TBSP. of dressing. Simmer on medium heat 10 min. or until chops are cooked through (160 degrees F). Arrange chops on platter; spoon sauce over chops. Makes 4 servings.

Thank you Taste of Home!

Another exciting event that we just had to celebrate, is that it was our youngest dog, Autumn's 1st birthday! She has grown so fast and we just love her to pieces. So for her birthday we took her first to Petco and Bo actually let her in the store to pick out a treat. She was pretty overwhelmed by everything in there, but decided on a hoof of some sort filled with peanut butter. So we purchased two of them because Jed was with us also and headed to the dog park. Both Jed and Autumn LOVE the dog park. They get to run around, play with other dogs, and their favorite... SWIM!

Lastly, the most exciting event of the last few weeks happened yesterday. I had my first appointment for baby. I decided to go to the Paradise Midwives just because I've heard such good things about them and I really like the idea of a midwife being there with me throughout the whole labor instead of a doctor just being there for the last few minutes.

I LOVED my midwife! I'll have the same one for the first few visits and then they'll start switching me with the other 2 that are there also because one of them is always on call 24-hours for delivery. I'm only 11 weeks pregnant, so they weren't sure if they were going to be able to get the heartbeat with the Doppler, but she found it right away. As Bo described it, it was a heavenly sound. It made it seem so real. I mean, I haven't had a period for awhile, my waist is starting to thicken, and I've been nauseas and vomiting, but to hear the heartbeat... I know its really in there! It was so awesome.

I found out that they have these Fetal Dopplers that you can rent from this company for $20 a month. Its really tempting to get one. You can then record your baby's heartbeat and email it to friends or copy it onto a CD or whatever. I'm thinking of renting it for at least one month just to record the memory. If I do, I'll be sure to post the sound to this blog.

We Have Some News...

A new edition to the family is currently on it's way!

We are extremely excited and are ready to share it with the world!

I am almost 8 weeks along and feeling pretty good. I am due February 20th and we'll either be having a Robert Lemual Scott IV aka "Brodie" or a Madeline Ann Scott aka "Maddie."

I am experiencing the normal queasiness where if I am not constantly eating I feel sick, or if I eat too much I get sick, but I haven't spent any time kneeling over the toilet, so I'm feeling pretty blessed!

Below are some videos and stories of the different ways I've told my family.

When I first found out I couldn't believe it! We have been trying, but I didn't feel pregnant or feel any symptoms. I just decided one Tuesday morning that I would take a pregnancy test just for fun. Bo was of course already at work, so after I found out I started to brainstorm different ways that I could tell him. What I decided to do was later that afternoon when he got home, take a few pictures of he and the dogs and then take a picture of my pregnancy test and create a little slideshow. My hope was to get his reaction on camera. So after I had all the pictures ready I discretely set up our camera, pushed record, and called him in to look at the pictures. This is what happened:

I was pretty happy that I was able to get it all on tape, although I was a little nervous that I would miss his reaction because our camera can only record about a minute and he was fixated on a picture of him with the two little dogs. You can hear me in the background trying to urge him onto the next picture. :)

By the way... this is the picture Bo just couldn't get enough of:

Buddy (black) does look pretty comical.

About two and half weeks later my parents and sister finally came home from their vacation and I was so excited to fill them in on our news.

I first saw my sister and decided to pull the same trick on her that I did on Bo. This was her response:

Now my sister had a little bit of a ditzy moment. She was looking at pictures of her little puppy (we had been dog sitting for her while she was on vacation) and when the pregnancy test picture came up her first initial reaction was that we had given her puppy a pregnancy test... can someone even do that!?

Finally it was time to tell my parents! Unfortunately, I didn't get them on tape because we forgot our camera, but it was hilarious! Whenever we go over to my parents house, us girls like to play a game of Scrabble. So, while my mom was picking up after dinner I was setting the Scrabble board up. On the Scrabble board I spelled out "IM_PREGNANT" and called my mom in. My dad was already sitting in the living room on the couch, but I knew he wouldn't notice it until my mom said something. When my mom came in to sit down and start playing, she looked at the word and got a furrowed brow look on her face. I have to say I was a little disappointed with her reaction. Then as my mom started to sweep away the Scrabble tiles she said, "Who put this here, that's not how you spell "impregnate"." I was thinking, WHAT! And then said, "It says, "I'm Pregnant"! Then my mom looked up at me with a huge smile and shouted, "You're Pregnant!" And got super excited, along with my dad. That was more of the reaction I was hoping for! :)

Since then I have started working on my nursery. I know its a little early, but I am so excited and I love doing crafts and projects. So I settled on a gender neutral classy barnyard theme, since we pretty much live on a farm even though we aren't farmers.

So far I have sewed three decor pillows that will hang out in the crib and then when the baby comes I will move them to the guest bed and I just recently finished a painting that I hung above the crib. I'm still planning on making a crib ruffle at the bottom, some curtains for the windows, and possibly a baby quilt. I will be sure to post more pictures as I finish my projects.
