November was a rough month for us! Brodie brought home a cold that spread to all of the kids. That cold turned into pink eye for Ryker and Mari. Then Brodie brought home the flu, which also spread to Ryker. Between the three of them we were home bound for about 3 weeks. We did manage to have some fun here and there though!
We got snow... and lots of it...

Bo found a hunting spot that has provided lots of ducks and geese for our dinner table. Joy.

We had a great Thanksgiving at home, although Brodie came down with the flu the night before, so he was out of commission for most of it. We were still able to paint some pictures and make some turkey hats, so all was good. And I enjoyed all the left overs for the next few days. That has got to be the best part of doing your own Thanksgiving!
The boys were supposed to go hunting Thanksgiving morning, but since Brodie was sick, they tried going out Friday morning. They got a duck and a goose. The kids were very excited because they saw the duck's brains coming out of his head. Boys.
Then Ryker got the flu the next day. And poor Mari still had her pink eye. Doesn't she look so sad?
On Saturday we had plans to go into the forest and cut down our Christmas tree before more snow was supposed to fall upon us, but Ryker was not interested in going, and Mari still looked awful, so I sent Bo and Brodie to the feed store to pick one up. It's a beautiful tree, but I hate that we missed out on that experience this year.
All the kids are finally feeling better, and I'm hoping we will be done with all these cooties for awhile now.
Brodie made a list for Santa. He wants a new puppy, cars, a race track, batman and ninja video games, a toy pistol, and a rocket.
Yesterday, we went to see the jolly man himself! Brodie was so nervous while we were standing in the line, but once it was our turn, he warmed right up. I think it helped that Ryker was eager to talk to him. Ryker wanted to ask Santa for a rocket and a green diet coke (green is his favorite color, and he attaches it to everything), but once we got into the building he heard they were serving hot cocoa, so he changed his mind to a green hot cocoa. Today he keeps telling me he wants a green diet coke again. That kid!

Mari didn't seem frightened of Santa, but she didn't want to take her eye off him.
We also saw The Grinch. The kids don't know The Grinch story yet, so they were just shy and nervous around him.
They even brought the Christmas Camel from the zoo!
We got there at the very end of the festivities, so we missed out when it came to sitting on the camel and riding the horse drawn carriage, but it was snowing and cold outside anyways, so that's ok. Afterwards we went out for Chinese food, so it made missing those events ok.
